Cool down with culture York Theatre Royal’s Pop up on the Patio – shows are every week this August from comedy, singing, story craft, modern mythical stories, puppet in a pub!, performance poetry, family magic and an award winning singer songwriter – all set on the intimate patio of the theatre, for an atmospheric summer production you will not forget.

Heard of the Good Organisations city tours with a difference? that help people affected by homelessness. With tours running every day of the week, you will always find something different to discover – Family Fun Tour (Sat/Sun), Story of Guy Fawkes (Sun/Mon/Tues), York’s Railway Heritage (Weds/Thurs), Health & Wealth of the City (Thurs/Fri)

Fancying something a little scary? Join Mad Alice for The Bloody Tour of York, her Yorkshire wit and spooky knowledge of the ghostly goings on in the city will send shivers down your spine! but don’t worry she tailors the tours to all ages so no kids will be scared in the process (unless they want to be!)

How about walking around the home of the Lord Mayor of York? The York Mansion House is back open again and you can join their behind the scenes tour every Sat/Sun.

Head to the York Walls! You cannot come to York without visiting England’s longest city walls! With a new one-way system in place, it is safe to visit and explore this unique view of the city.

3. OUSE CRUISE – City Cruises York. Get a different view of the city and hear about York’s history of flooding and what the river was used for in times gone by.  There’s plenty of different cruises to choose from too – enjoy afternoon tea, evening dinner cruises or even a party night cruise!  Plenty to see whilst you sit back and relax on board to cruise the Ouse.

4.  YORK ICE TRAIL – (Feb 1st & 2nd) We’re really excited for this one – it’s a fab day out with the kids.  40 sculptures of ice dotted around the city for you to discover, each one with it’s own theme. Pick up a map from the Visit York Visitor Centre and follow the complete trail all around the city.

5.  YORK CAT TRAIL – This is another one that’s great for the kids – and it’s free!  There are little cat statues hidden all over the city, Clifford’s Tower, The Shambles and the Minster.  Download the trail from The Cat Gallery and get the kids searching for those little kittys.
